On July 11, 2023, IBM made some exciting announcements for the FlashSystem family that will provide even more benefits to businesses!

IBM has expanded its FlashSystem product family and announced new models that offer the right solution for every business!

Details of this announcement briefly explained:

  • New FlashSystem 5015 with all software features (FlashCopy, Remote Mirror, Easy Tier) included and choice of Expert Care (Basic and Advanced, 1-5 years). General Availability will be on 21st July (with a couple of exceptions) and the new machine type (4680) will replace the existing FS5015 (2072) which will be withdrawn from marketing on December 30th, 2023.
  • New FlashSystem 5045 with all Software features (FlashCopy 2.0, Remote Mirror, Easy Tier, Encryption, Safeguarded Copy) included and choice of and Expert Care (Basic and Advanced, 1-5 years). Yes, you read that right, we’re bringing Safeguarded Copy to the FlashSystem 5045 because Cyber Resiliency isn’t just a ‘large business’ concern. General Availability will be on 21st July (with a couple of exceptions) and the new machine type (4680) will replace the existing FS5035 (2072) which will be withdrawn from marketing on December 30th, 2023.
  • New FlashSystem 9500 with ‘harmonized’ FlashCore Module & SSD pricing (i.e. same list price for these components as you see for the FlashSystem 5200 & FlashSystem 7300 today) + licensed machine code (no separate software licensing anymore). With these changes, the FlashSystem 9500 will fit alongside its smaller siblings in a more cohesive way and be equally well suited to our Value Seller pricing approach. General Availability will be on 21st July (with a couple of exceptions) and the new machine type (4983) will effectively replace the existing FS9500 (4666) however we will not be withdrawing the 4666 from marketing at this time
